Alesso has put his signature spin on “Ascension,” the theme track for the Esports World Cup 2025, giving the anthem a massive EDM makeover. Originally crafted by composer Edouard Brenneisen at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, the track features none other than Grammy-nominated cellist Tina Guo.
In Alesso’s hands, the orchestral piece takes flight—elevated into a soaring progressive house banger that blends his iconic sound with Guo’s cinematic touch. She’s no stranger to epic scores, having worked with Hans Zimmer on DC’s Wonder Woman 1984. According to Ariel Horn, Executive Producer at the Esports World Cup Foundation, this remix is part of a larger mission to fuse the worlds of gaming and electronic music. “Gaming and EDM have grown side-by-side for years, from Marshmello’s Fortnite concert to collaborations like Zedd’s work with League of Legends and VALORANT,” Horn said. “Alesso and Tina Guo are taking it to the next level.”
